MANILA City Mayor Isko Moreno ordered the distribution of one million face masks for free last week in the wake of what he described as an alarming rise in the number of individuals getting infected with Covid19 in the recent days.
This, as the city government carried out simultaneous vaccination for medical frontliners who belong to the senior citizen age group along with those who are non-elderly.
Moreno directed Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) chief Dennis Viaje to mobilize his men for the distribution of the said face masks to the various barangays as he expressed alarm over the spike in the Covid19 cases in the city.
“Mga kababayan ko, baka nae-excite tayo sa bakuna. Tandaan nyo, ang binibigyan ng priority ng World Health Organization (WHO), Department of Health (DOH) at national government ay ang medical frontliners,” Moreno said.
He also appealed to the barangays to remind their constituents to wear their face masks properly, once they begin distributing the face masks from the city government. ANDI GARCIA
