AWARD-winning actress Anita Linda, regarded as the “oldest active actress” in Philippine cinema, has passed away at the age of 95.
The sad news was confirmed by Anita’s daughter, Francesca Lake-Legaspi recently.
Anita (Alice Buenaflor Lake in real life) died due to old age last Wednesday, June 10 at 6:15 in the morning.
“I am trembling as I am gathering my thoughts… She is like my Lola and part of my family,” Director Adolf Alix, Jr., one of her closest frends, posted.
She has starred in numerous award-winning films like “Lola,” Alix’s “Adela,” and “Ang Babae sa Bubungang Lata” for which she won the FAMAS award for Best Supporting Actress at 74, making her the oldest actress to do so.
The legendary actress turned 95 last 2019, making her only a few years younger than Philippine cinema itself, which is currently celebrating 100 years.
Ms. Linda’s friends in and out of showbiz have started to extend their condolences to her family on social media.
