Veteran actors Cherry Pie, Edu dating

Two of the most respected actors in Philippine showbiz have officially announced they are an item. Award-winning actress Cherry Pie Picache, 51 and multi-awarded host/actor Edu Manzano, 66, are dating.

The real score was first confirmed by Manzano in an exclusive by One News Pilipinas anchor Cheryl Cosim. She sent him a script via SMS of a newscast romantically linking him and Picache along with the direct question: “How true?”

“You’re the funniest! Yes, my dear,” an amused Manzano replied. Cosim asked him for confirmation twice, to which he responded in the affirmative.

Picache had initially hesitated to confirm or deny things in a separate interview, deferring to “Doods” (Edu’s nickname). Once she was told about the Cosim confirmation, however, she opened up immediately. People in her circle have been saying it’s quite evident how happy the veteran actress is, even likening her to a schoolgirl experiencing kilig.

The pair’s children seem all-aboard as well. Luis Manzano, Edu’s son with ex-wife Vilma Santos (now Recto, known as The Star for All Seasons), was all praises. “I only have good words to say about Tita Pie as a person and an actress,” he told entertainment journalist Dolly Anne Carvajal.

Nio Tria, Picache’s son with the partner she separated from in 2006, has good things to say also. “She deserves her own happiness. She’s still a woman. I just want her to be happy. I support them,” he said in Tagalog during an interview for an upcoming show he’s in. “Having a relationship doesn’t take away the fact that she’s my mom.”

Picache and Manzano are still on vacation in the United States. Most recently, they spent Thanksgiving with Manzano’s relatives, including his children Addie and Enzo. He is an active co-parent with former partner Rina Samson.

On his Instagram account, he posted a photo of himself and Picache with members of the clan, Addie and Enzo included. The sweet caption read: “Bros and sis, in-laws, children, cousins, apos (grandchildren) [and] Pie. Mi familia. The best day of my 2021. Never realized how much I missed them until we celebrated Thanksgiving together. I love my family!”
