Malacanang has announced the expansion to 21 countries (including the U.S.A.) of the travel ban intended to curb the spread of the new highly-infectious Covid19 strain which originated in the United Kingdom.
The ban is expected to last until Jan 15.
However, it does not apply to bonafide Filipino citizens; but they will be required to undergo a 14-day quarantine procedure upon arrival.
Aside from the United Kingdom which was the very first to be banned, the other countries now falling under this classification are: Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, The Netherlands, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
The latest addition to this growing list is the United States of America, which was announced last week by Malacanang, where the new Covid variant was detected in some states.
