Short video-sharing app TikTok recently introduced a pilot program allowing users to upload video resumés for jobs in the United States.
Under this program, various companies, among them Chipotle Mexican Grill and Target Corp., are accepting applications from July 7 to 31. It is targeted towards its user demographic—mostly Gen Z and millennials—allowing them to apply for entry-level jobs and experienced positions alike.
The move was influenced by a shortage of workers as more businesses resume operation amid the pandemic due to rapid vaccinations against Covid19.
TikTok had gained immense popularity for trend-setting dance videos and has lately experienced an increase in career and job-related content under hashtags such as #CareerTok.
