Three PAF airmen die in fiery car crash

Three members of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) were reportedly killed last week when the car they were riding smashed at high-speed into one of the concrete barriers situated along EDSA in Cubao, Q.C., and suddenly burst into flames.

In a statement, PAF headquarters said all the passengers were airmen assigned at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City. A fourth, the designated driver, escaped with slight injuries.


The deadly mishap reportedly occurred along the southbound EDSA lane near P. Tuazon Avenue, at around 2 a.m.


Police investigators said the occupants of the Honda City sedan has just come from a birthday party; unfortunately the driver was intoxicated.
The probers said the alcohol he had consumed at the party was way above the allowable limit.


The driver will be charged with multiple homicide through reckless imprudence and violation of the Anti-Drunken and Drugged Driving Act.


A Manila Times report dated Feb. 19, 2022 identified the fatalities was A1C Sabado Angelo, A1C Aaron Tabarle and A1C Kyle Justin Velasco. The driver, A2C Manuel Ognes, is in the hospital.
