According to reports from Swedish publication Aftonbladet, two prisoners at Hallby penitentiary near Eskilstuna held two guards hostage for nine hours until the pair’s demand for pizza was met.
At 12:30 PM on July 21, convicted murderers 24-year-old Haned Mahamed and 30-year-old Isak Dewit managed to break into the prison guard room armed razor blades, then subsequently barricaded themselves inside with the two guards.
Following the breach, the entire jail was placed on lockdown, with special forces called to the scene along with an ambulance, firetruck, and police helicopter.
Negotiations with the two felons ensued as soon as a mediator arrived at the scene.
Mahamed and Dewit initially demanded a helicopter be brought for them, but later on settled for 20 kebab shop pizzas for them and the other inmates.
The ransom pies were delivered at 4:30 PM, and five hours later, both guards were released, unharmed.
The two inmates were then brought to the local police station for questioning on the strange incident.
