Camp Crame – Nine policemen involved the broad daylight ambush-killing of four Army soldiers in Jolo, Sulu last June 2020 were ordered dismissed from the service.
This was confirmed by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Debold Sinas last week.
The Army men were conducting an surveillance operation against suspected Abu Sayyaf terrorists when they were pounced on by the Sulu cops who tailed them to the town’s main marketplace.
Camp Aguinaldo later accused the PNP, which was then under Gen. Archie Gamboa, of a cover-up, claiming a legitimate encounter between two armed groups.
This was debunked by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) which was tasked to look into the incident exhaustively.
The NBI filed murder and planting of evidence charges agasint the Sulu policemen.
