Western-branded vaccines Pfizer BioNTech and AstraZeneca have been shown to be effective against the Delta and Kappa variants of the Covid19 virus which were first identified in India, according to a recent U.K. study.
Unfortunately, totally no mention was made about the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccine (trade name: CoronaVac) which is being furiously promoted by the Philippine government in its push to vaccinate 70 million citizens and achieve herd immunity.
Reports said an analysis by Public Health England (PHE) determined that Pfizer and AstraZ vaccines offer 90-percent protection against hospitalization for those infected with the Delta variant.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning to governments all over the world that the Delta variant is now the dominant strain of the virus, and a thus “virus of concern.”
Experts from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDPC) predicted that the Delta variant will circulate extensively during the summer months, particularly among younger people who are not targeted for vaccination.
As such, the ECDPC this is a real risk for those more vulnerable individuals to be infected and experience severe illness if they aren’t fully vaccinated.
The ECDCP added that two doses of either Pfizer or AstraZ offered “high protection” against the variant and its consequences.
