The SHEPHERD | Danilo Q. Junco
Now we have come to the strategy of Satan to dominate humanity here on earth which is his ultimate goal. In 2 Corinthians 4:4 says “whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”
This is one of Satan’s tactics in controlling the people of this world which categorically is to blind their minds as they cannot understand and believe the gospel of Christ. The parallel passage for this is found in 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5 which says “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
Though this passage speaks primarily of the weapons for Christians to use in the spiritual conflict but let us focus first about the strongholds or fortresses of Satan which are essentially arguments, reasonings, ideologies, knowledge, propaganda or anything that highly exalts itself against the knowledge of God. All of these things should be brought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Satan’s employs prejudice and preconception in the minds of the people of the world. By prejudice they have already the frame of mind that whatever you tell them they won’t accept no matter how truthful it is. They will say to you we have our own idea or knowledge about it and what you have told us doesn’t alter of our stand and belief.
It is really difficult to persuade those people who have prejudice or preconception instill into their minds. Normally prejudice or preconception is present in religious cults, political ideologies, racial and culture of the people.
Therefore, the battlefield is the mind. This is where Satan is galvanizing his strongholds or fortresses. In fact, Apostle Paul’s prayer in Acts 26:18 that the eyes or minds of the people will be open and that they will be transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Light and from the power of Satan into the power of God.
And if the battlefield is the mind, Christians should be wary and careful of the things they insert into their brains or minds.
Speaking of weapons, Paul itemized these weapons in Ephesians 6:13-18 but we have to include verses 10-11 for purposes of being ready and able to win this spiritual battle.
In verses 10-11 say: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, which you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
We are told to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. And then Paul goes on that Christians should put on the whole armor of God which were described in verses 13-18 saying: “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which, you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
Here Paul enumerated the six equipment that Christians should wear to safeguard their bodies from being hit by the spiritual weapons of Satan and his allies, including all prayers or praying in the Spirit which nowadays is called “intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) which can reach to the place where the enemies are holed up.
