After the completion of the Southern and Northern Luzon expressway link via the Skyway Stage 3, San Miguel Corporation is now eyeing the construction of the Pasig River Expressway (PAREX).
According to SMC president Ramon Ang, PAREX is a 19.37km six-lane, all elevated expressway which traverses the Pasig River.
The project starts from Radial Road 10 in the City of Manila and ends at a connection to the South East Metro Manila Expressway at Circumferential Road 6.
The six-lane elevated expressway will connect and utilize a 2.7-km portion of Skyway Stage 3 from Nagtahan to Plaza Azul. The entire alignment of the Project is divided into three segments:
• Segment 1 – R10 to Plaza Azul to San Juan River
• Segment 2 – San Juan River to C-5
• Segment 3 – C-5 to C-6
Costing P 95.4 billion, the project aims to establish a direct link between the western and eastern cities of Metro Manila and help in traffic decongestion of R-10, EDSA, C-5 by providing connectivity among toll roads and freeways of Metro Manila, thereby diverting traffic volume to alternative routes.
SMC’s efforts to help the country and the economy does not stop with the Skyway Stage 3 project, Ang told President Duterte during the recent opening of Skyway Stage 3.
“We will continue the work to further decongest Metro Manila by linking east and west of the metropolis, through the PAREX project,” Ang said.
The project is a Joint Venture of the Philippine National Construction Corporation (PNCC) and San Miguel Holdings Corporation (SMHC).
It is expected to be completed by 2025.
