Philippine National Police chief Debold Sinas announced last week that he lost 20 kilos after four months of dieting and exercise, thanks to his physician’s recommended weight loss program.
“A strict diet, healthy living at bawas inom,” he said in an interview. “Kung uminom man, konti lang tapos sleep well.”
In January of this year, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) led a weight loss program some 700 overweight cops to get into shape, with then-NCRPO head Sinas leading the effort.
In February, Metro Manila cops classified under obese classes 2 and 3 based on their body mass index (BMI, a value computed by dividing one’s weight in kilos by their height in meters squared) were mandated to attend a lecture on how to lose weight and were started on an exercise regimen.
The goal was for police officers to achieve an leaner figure more than hitting a certain weight target.
