The Department of Education is set to look into reports of teachers purchasing and using ready-made research papers they need to get promoted, instead of submitting original work.
Senate committee on basic education head Sherwin Gatchalian called on the education department to investigate this practice which alleges that teachers are buying research to help them further their studies.
“These unethical practices show lack of integrity and should not be tolerated,” he said, after seeing on social media viral screenshots of conversations allegedly of teachers actively buying ready-made research papers.
A certain Leezl Campoamor Olegario, in a Facebook post wrote that these teachers worked at Palawan State University, Northwest Samar University and DepEd Banaue Division of Ifugao
The senator said: “In the medium and long term however, we should be decongesting the workload of our teachers to afford them time to engage in research.”
“Prior to the pandemic, they are already burdened with non-teaching tasks and the shift to distance learning proved overwhelming,” he added.
