Rainbow signifies God’s mercy

The SHEPHERD | Danilo Q. Junco

Perhaps many people don’t know the meaning of the rainbow that appears in the sky after rain falls to the ground or even at times when there are no downpours.

Now, the homosexuals or the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) use the rainbow as their symbol of unity although they remove the other color for making it to six for monetary consideration.

The rainbow is composed of seven colors which are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

It does not manifest its beautiful color in the cloud for just display as it has significance during the time of Noah when God judged the earth by flood and killed about 2 million people along with birds, animals and creeping things and only eight persons and fair of animals, birds and creeping beings which led by God to the ark were spared (Genesis 9:12-17).

God told Noah that the rainbow which appears in the cloud is a sign of His covenant with him that He would no longer judge the earth with deluge so people and animals or birds or creeping beings would not perish.

And this rainbow also was seen by Apostle John in Heaven on God’s throne over God’s head and this speak of foremost importance to God that it is not just there for decoration to beautify Heaven but is a reminder of His MERCY to all people whom He created after His own image and likeness that through His mercy that He will give the people the chance to be saved and not to be tormented in Hell for eternity.

This is the reason that despite all the sufferings that the sins or rebellions of the people bring on earth, still God does not judge them but He let His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ to come first into the world to save them before to end this evil age spearheaded by Satan and rebellious angels to the sons of disobedience.

This was the reason that the Lord Jesus commanded His disciples to go into the world and make disciples of all nations… so all the people on earth can hear the gospel or good news that the Lord Jesus paid already the penalty of our sins and declared righteous before God there on the cross when He was crucified and died and if only, we have repented from our sins and received Him as Lord and Savior (Matthew 24:14, 8:19-20; Romans 11: 25-26; 2 Peter 3:9).

But people should be extra careful not to use the things that God considered them as holy or those belongings only for His purpose to avoid being judged by Him.

There are several examples of persons who won’t take heed of God’s command as recorded in the Bible.

One example for this is King Belshazzar of Babylon who out of arrogance and irreverence to God, he let the gold and silver vessels taken from the temple of God for them to drink from it along with their invited guests, officials and leaders and then God judged him on that night by killing him through King Cyrus of Medes-Persia and captured Babylon’s kingdom (Daniel 5:1-30).

Another example, are Nadab and Abihu, sons of Aaron, for using strange fire which God did not command them to use it, they both died for disobeying and profaning the holy things of God when fire came from the Lord and devoured them (Leviticus 10:1-3).
