SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA—The city’s archdiocese has relieved a priest involved in an adulterous affair with a married woman. According to Archbishop Florentino Lavarias, the accused has been banned from holding mass pending an investigation.

A five-minute video, which has gone viral, showed the priest being confronted by a furious husband and his sons. The husband was filmed giving his wife’s packed belongings to the priest, in effect, “giving away” his wife.

“The RCASF (Roman Catholic Archbishop of San Fernando) reserves the right to take appropriate actions as a more thorough investigation progresses after the receipt of a formal complaint from the concerned party,” said Lavarias.

He called for the public to respect the privacy of the concerned parties and to pray for them “with introspective concern.”

The video also showed the priest apologizing, while the man called him a “snake” and a homewrecker more than once, and reminded him sarcastically of the 10th Commandment: “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife.”
