The pregnancy cases of three 12-year-olds who became mothers at the early age in 2019 in Western Visayas alarmed the Commission on Population and Development (Popcom-6).

Harold Alfred Marshall, Popcom regional director for Western Visayas, said that the live births of adolescents 10 to 14 years old also soared from 88 in 2018 to 107 in 2019.
Capiz ranked first with the highest rate of teen pregnancy in Western Visayas at 11.2%, followed by Guimaras at 10.5%.
Aklan has 9.73% teen pregnancy rate, while Negros Occidental has 9.6% and Iloilo province has 9.5%. Antique, Iloilo City and Bacolod City followed with 8.3%, 7.9%, and 4.3% respectively.
