PNP’s Eleazar joins Ping-Tito senate slate

Republika

Recently-retired Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Guillermo Eleazar has jumped into the political bandwagon.

Eleazar, who retired from the service last November 13 or just two days before filing his certificate of candidacy for senator in the Commission on elections.

Eleazar, one of the most popular PNP chiefs in recent memory, opted to join the senate slate of Senator Ping Lacson, the presidential candidate of the Partido Reporma.

Lacson’s running mate is his good friend Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
Lacson, himself a former PNP chief diring the term of President Estrada, heralded Eleazar’s entry into the fold.

“Eleazar’s addition to the Partido Reporma senatorial slate reinforces our campaign’s edge in terms of integrity, experience and courage in public service,” Lacson said.
