Philippine National Police chief Debold Sinas has tested positive for Covid19, it was announced.
But his Camp Crame office quickly reiterated that Sinas is asymptomatic, which is why “there is nothing to worry about.”
But, according to reporters covering the Camp Crame beat, there should be some cause for concern because Gen Sinas was up and about and actively performing his officials functions last week, and he might have infected the people he had interacted with, thus obligating them to self-isolate and be subjected to strict monitoring.
In fact last Wednesday, Gen. Sinas held a well-attended press conference at PNP headquarters in Quezon City to publicize the US Embassy’s donation of a muscle truck to the PNP Highway Patrol Group.
Sources said it couldn’t be immediately be ascertained how many people had close contact with Sinas, and if any contact tracing activity had been undertaken as prescribed by the Department of Health and the IATF.
