Following the passing of former President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III on June 24, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) announced that it will be releasing a commemorative stamp in honor of the late 15th president.
Popularly known as PNoy during his time in office, PNoy passed away in his sleep due to renal failure as a complication of diabetes.
Postmaster General Norman Fulgencio expressed his grief at the passing of PNoy and said that the entire PHLPost was in mourning at the news, through a social media post.
A public viewing of PNoy’s remains was held at his alma mater, Ateneo de Manila University’s Church of Gesu on June 25, before he was cremated and buried alongside his parents; former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino II and former president Corazon Aquino, at Manila Memorial Park later in the evening.
PNoy’s administration focused on good governance, revitalizing and enhancing the country’s economy, as well as addressing government corruption, under the banner of the “Daang Matuwid” platform.
