The Philippine government has reportedly finalized purchase agreements with five foreign pharmaceutical firms, thereby assuring a steady and constant supply of vaccines for millions of Filipinos as they struggle with the deadly Covid19 disease.
According to a statement from the National Covid19 Task Force, supply deals with vaccine manufacturers Moderna, Novavax, AstraZeneca, Sinovac and Gamaleya (Russia), for tens of millions of doses, enough for attainment of herd immunity, have been inked.
Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez said the bulk of the procurement will be arriving around August or during the 3rd quarter.
Galvez had earlier claimed Filipinos may experience a “better Christmas” in 2021 once 70 percent of Filipinos or 70 million people are vaccinated.
Galvez said that additionally the government is also ironing similar deals with Pfizer BioNtech and Johnson&Johnson.
