PAF gets 6 new choppers from Poland

Republika

The Philippine Air Force recently took delivery of six brand-new Black Hawk helicopters from Poland, according to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

Lorenzana said this is part of a $241-million purchase contract signed in 2019 with a Polish manufacturer. Ten more units are scheduled to arrive in early 2021.

The Black Hawk helicopter has a multi-role capability – combat, search and rescue, troop insertion and extraction, disaster relief and personnel and cargo transport.

In 2018, the Philippine government cancelled a $235-million contract to buy 16 helicopters from Bell Canada after Ottawa objected as the hardware could be used for combat operations.
