After nearly three decades, Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao has announced he is finally hanging up boxing gloves, to allow him to concentrate on his political career.

Pacquiao was recently anointed as the vice presidential standard bearer of the PDP-Laban (Pimentel faction) in the May 2022 polls.

“Retire na,” Pacquiao was quoted as saying in numerous news reports in Cebu City which he visited to fulfill certain commitments.

Pacquiao flew into town to take his oath as honorary chairman of PROMDI (Probinsiya Muna Development Initiative), a Cebu-based political group founded by the late Gov. Lito Osmena.

Pacquiao was reportedly nominated as the presidential candidate of PROMDI.

“Dili na ako mo-away,” Pacquiao declared when asked by local reporters about the status of his storied boxing career.

Pacquiao achieved global fame and recognition as the only boxer to win world titles in eight different weight divisions.
