The Philippine National Police’s online complaint system, “Sumbong mo, aksyon ko” program—aimed at identifying rogue members of the police force—was commended by the interior and local government department.
The newly launched program lets citizens send in complaints against police officers via text, social media, e-mail or Quick Responses codes.
Secretary Eduardo Año said that it opened up an avenue where citizens can play a vital role in crime prevention and cleansing the system of ‘scalawags.’
Said he: “We support the initiatives taken by PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar to effect the change we want to see in the police organization. Through the online complaint system, mas mapapabilis ang aksyon sa krimen at sumbong mula sa publiko habang nililinis ang hanay n gating mga kapulisan.”
The DILG chief however, reminded the public to report only legitimate complaints and warned that pranks would be dealt with accordingly by the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group.
