Metro Manila Council (MMC) chair and Parañaque City mayor Edwin Olivarez announced that Christmas celebrations and any parties in which there is loud singing or playing of Christmas songs in barangays are not allowed under general community quarantine (GCQ).
Office parties in the public and private sector are covered by this rule. Videoke or karaoke gatherings must also have no more than 10 persons in the area. Wearing of face masks and face shields must also be enforced during these activities.
Additionally, persons below 18 years old are not allowed to go caroling. Individuals who engage in this Christmas tradition must have only a maximum of 10 persons in a group and the activity must not go past midnight.
According to Interior secretary Eduardo Año, keeping the National Capital Region (NCR) under GCQ was decided upon by the city mayors to support the economy.
Earlier, both Quezon City and Valenzuela cancelled Christmas parties at city hall.
