San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has opened (partially) to the public the highly-anticipated Skyway 3 toll road which is expected to drastically lessen the load of traffic-logged EDSA, the nation’s busiest thoroughfare.
SMC officials said the tollway will lessen travel time between the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) from the present 2 hours and 30 minutes to only 20 minutes.
Skyway 3 is an 18-kilometer elevated highway that will offer motorists travelling between Metro Manila cities an alternative to EDSA.
Presently, it will have four lanes; but by January 14, all its seven lanes will be opened, stretching from Buendia, Makati to NLEX.
SMC boss Ramon Ang cited the Duterte administration for contributing to its speedy completion by eliminating most obstacles standing in the way.
“We believe it will be the key to economic recovery after the pandemic,” Ang was quoted in reports as saying.
