NCR in Alert 2 until Nov. 21

Republika

Metro Manila has been placed under Alert Level 2 effective Friday, Nov. 5 and will remain so until Nov. 21.

Under the current level, indoor venues and establishments are allowed 50% capacity for the fully jabbed as well as minors regardless of their vaccination status. Meanwhile, outdoor venues are allowed up to 70% capacity.

Karaoke bars, country clubs, concert halls and theaters may resume operations, while government offices will be allowed 50% onsite capacity.

For the following months, announcement of alert levels will be every 15th and 30th of the month. An escalation of alert levels may occur at any point but a de-escalation will only be announced every two weeks.

At present, the National Capital Region is logging nearly 1,800 cases daily. There are about 37,000 active cases, the lowest figure since March earlier this year.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David confirmed that this was indeed a reversal of the coronavirus’ Delta surge, and a downtrend was being seen in NCR and neighboring provinces.

“[It’s] hopeful,” he said in an interview. “It means the virus is really weakening especially in these areas.”

Meanwhile, the interior and local government department is seeking to lift the face shield requirement in all areas except hospital settings.
