Two persons who took a selfie on the Metro Rail Transit 3’s (MRT-3) tracks at Quezon Avenue station were arrested and later charged with alarm and scandal.
The suspects were Jerald Oliva, 22 and Rey Llasos, 28.
At around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, Oliva climbed down from the platform and sat on the northbound tracks while Llasos snapped a selfie and then took Oliva’s photo. Security guards present at the time of the incident apprehended the pair and brought them to the police station at 2:20 a.m. on Monday, May 10.
MRT-3 general manager assistant secretary Edymard Eje reprimanded the two men for flouting the safety protocols of the rail transit.
The Department of Transportation in a statement said that the incident should serve as a lesson for commuters to take seriously the MRT-3’s policies.
