In a bid to hit two birds with one stone, restaurateur Robbert Jan de Veen has made the world’s most expensive burger. He has always wanted to set a Guinness World Record, and he wanted to raise funds for charity. The creation was able to sell for $5,964. It was purchased by the chairman of the Royal Dutch Food and Beverage Association, Rober Wilemse.
Veen did his very best to create a hamburger that would be worthy of the accolade and the price tag. There is no confirmation from the Official World Record Association yet, but he is confident he will get it. After all, the current Guinness World Record holder dates back to 2011, sold by a restaurant in Oregon for $4,791.
Extravagance is the theme for the burger’s ingredients, starting from the buns covered in gold leaf. This also includes the likes of Alaskan king crab, beluga caviar, Japanese wagyu beef, and white truffle. It’s no wonder that the burger took him almost nine hours.
Veen gave his creation a rather befitting name. The burger is called “The Golden Boy”.
