NCR Plus, composed of Metro Manila and neighbor regions Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Bulacan, will remain under modified enhanced community quarantine until May 14, President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Wednesday.
In addition, Quirino province’s Santiago City and Abra province will be under MECQ as well starting May 1. According to the Palace, this classification will stay in place for these two areas for the whole month of May.
Under general community quarantine are the following:
Cordillera Administrative Region
• Baguio City
• Mountain Province
• Nueva Vizcaya
• Iligan City
• Davao City
Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao
• Lanao Del Sur
All other areas not specified are under modified general community quarantine.
Experts earlier recommended that to maintain the current classifications in order to further decongest hospitals.
NCR Plus had previously been under the strictest quarantine level (ECQ) from March 29 to April 11, owing to the second wave of Covid19 which sent the number of infections soaring.
