More than six years since the two traded blows in what was billed as the “Fight of the Century” retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and boxing legend turned presidential aspirant, Senator Manny Pacquiao will be spending time together but this time on friendly terms.
In a recent interview, Mayweather spoke of how he would be participating in a celebrity basketball match-up with Pacquiao sometime in January next year.
Well known as basketball fans apart from being professional athletes themselves, Mayweather remarked confidently on his own skills on the court.
Pacquiao, on the other hand, has been an active presence in the local basketball scene, playing for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) official team KIA for a stint.
He, later on, formed his own Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
On the topic of the pound for pound king’s campaign for the Philippine presidency, his undefeated former rival expressed support for him, saying he would “absolutely” back Pacquiao’s bid.
Mayweather and Pacquiao’s bout back in May 2015 remains the highest-grossing boxing match of all time, despite many considering the event a letdown with the latter’s loss.
