IN preparation for the upcoming free inoculation of about a million residents, workers, and visitors in the nation’s capital, the tandem of Mayor Isko Moreno and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, has created the Manila Covid19 Vaccine Action Center (MCVAC).
Moreno said that the MCVAC aims to assist in the registration of persons planning to undergo vaccination against Covid19; handle inquiries about the vaccine and do reporting and referral of AEFI (adverse events following immunization).
Manila Health Department (MHD) chief Dr. Arnold ‘Poks’’ Pangan is encouraging the public to contact the MCVAC via cellphone numbers 0927-351-0849; 0915-703-0621; 0968-572-1975; or 0961-020-2655 for inquiries about the Covid19 vaccination program.
Moreno said the MHD, which is the lead department handling the Covid19 vaccination program of the city, is currently preparing an information campaign to encourage vaccination. The MHD is also handling the creation of the master list of priority groups through registration of individuals.
The step-by-step process is as follows: individuals will be at the waiting area for vital signs taking; they will go to the pre-registered area for verification of client’s identification and counselling or for walk-in individuals’ observation area for registration and counselling; they will be at the screening area for assessment and final consent; they will proceed to the vaccination area and completion of immunization card; they will go to the monitoring area, where the individuals will be monitored for 30 minutes to an hour for any adverse reaction to the vaccine.
In case of an AEFI or adverse events following immunization, there will be an Emergency Response Team, consisting of a doctor and an ambulance complete with medical emergency kits, on standby. In case of emergencies, the individual will be sent to the nearest hospital in Manila.
The MHD said the vaccinated individual will be issued a Vaccination Passport. The MVAC will also do evaluations and reports about the vaccination program.
