Taguig City – An obviously disturbed man is now in police custody after confessing to murdering his two children on Christmas Day, one day after the death of his wife.
Taguig City police chief Col. Celso Rodriguez said the suspect, identified as Aiko Siacunco, 28, surrendered himself to authorities shortly after strangling his year-old son and three-year old daughter in the house of his father in Barangay North Signal.
Rodriguez told mediamen that Siacunco had tried to hang himself but was unsuccessful. He had tried to follow in the footsteps of his wife Karina, 28, who had committed suicide the same way last Thursday, Dec. 24.
Rodriguez said that Karina, who worked as a call center agent, was so depressed with her life, especially since her husband had been jobless since the lockdown imposed by the government last March 2020 to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
