Pollster Social Weather Stations (SWS) has reportedly found that some 60 percent of Filipinos don’t agree with President Duterte’s decision to run for vice president in the May 2022 elections.
SWS, which is arguably the most credible outfit in its field of expertise today, said that said Pinoys believe Mr. Duterte’s bid for the vice presidency violates the Constitution.
Duterte had formally accepted the endorsement of the PDP-Laban (Cusi wing) as their vice presidential candidate in May 2022.
In a recent survey, SWS said the respondents believe Duterte’s vying for the post of vice president “violated the intent of the Constitution, which should first be amended before he may run for office again.”
The same survey said that some 39 percent of Filipinos are in favor of Duterte’s seeking the vice presidency because they like his style of government management.
SWS said the universe of the survey was 1,200 adults, and information was culled from face-to-face interviews distributed across Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and Metro Manila.
