Following her participation in a Gabriela Youth online forum, actress Liza Soberano was warned by Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade of the dangers of being associated with the women’s rights group.
The general said: “Liza Soberano, there’s still a chance to abdicate the group. If you don’t, you will suffer the same fate as Josephine Anne Lapira @ELLA, former Deputy Secretary General of Gabriela Youth of UP, Manila.”
Lapira was killed in what appeared to be an encounter between communist rebels and government forces in Batangas, last 2017.
Parlade went on to say that Soberano–and other celebrities like Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray–should not be redtagged but be educated on the “communist” group MAKIBAKA that is allegedly fronted by Gabriela.
Previously, Soberano was accused by vlogger Maui Becker, in her livestream channel, of being a member of the New People’s Army, an alleged communist party in the country.
