Philippine National Police (PNP) operatives have arrested one of the main suspects tagged by investigators in the assassination of Los Baños Mayor Caesar Perez.
Reports said elements of the PNP Criminal Investigation & Detection Group (Batangas) collared former Los Baños Councilor Norvin Tamisin, who was allegedly among those behind the December 2020 murder of Perez.
He was picked up last Nov. 2 while jogging near the house in Baguio City where he had been hiding out since the crime.
Perez was shot twice from behind by unidentified gunmen on the evening of December 3, 2020 while on his way to the municipal town hall.
Previously, Perez was accused by President Duterte of involvement in the town’s illegal drug trade, which made him a marked man.
In a nationally televised interview, Perez vehemently denied the accusations, saying the brouhaha was the handiwork of a political rival.
