‘Kabayan’ re-enters politics

Republika

As he gears up to make a comeback in the political arena, broadcaster (and former vice president) Noli de Castro bids his radio show, Teleradyo, goodbye.

“Sorry to say na ito ho ang huling araw ko sa Teleradyo for so many years, at kami ho ay nagpapasalamat sa mga nakasama ko dito,” said he, who also went by the nickname “Kabayan.”

After 11 years, this return to political life sees de Castro joining the Aksyon Demokratiko party as a senatorial candidate.

“Ang malungkot lang po ay aalis ako dito na wala pa din kaming prangkisa,” he adds, referring to ABS-CBN network, which has still not regained its franchise after it over 70 congressmen voted no to its renewal.

He had served as vice president from 2004 to 2010 and had topped the senatorial elections way back in 2001.
