Popular OPM singer April Boy Regino passed away recently due to his deteriorating health condition, close relatives said.

Jukebox King April Boy Regino’s wife, Madelyn Regino, took to social media to express her deepest gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte.

Madelyn said the President has been giving their family money every month for many years now to help purchase medicine and maintenance drugs for her husband.

Maraming Salamat po,” posted Madelyn in her Facebook.

Regino – Dennis Magdaraog in real life – had endeared himself to millions of fans in the 1990s with such songs as “Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin” and “Umiiyak ang Puso.”

He migrated to the US and performed regularly in musical shows staged by the Fil-Am community.

In 2009, Regino was diagnosed with prostate cancer; and in 2015, he said he had contracted diabetic retinopathy which resulted in the loss of one eye.
He died in a hospital last Nov. 29, according to his wife, from complications arising from chronic kidney disease.
