Currently, the city chief has reported experiencing mild symptoms.
“Eight months after my first bout with COVID-19, I am very sad to report that I have once again tested positive for the virus,” she said.
The mayor continued: “As many doctors have continued to remind us, Covid19 is an ongoing and evolving pandemic, and we should not let our guard down under any circumstances.”
In light of this news, the city’s Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU) has begun contact tracing. Belmonte also said she would continue working under quarantine.
Belmonte first contracted Covid19 last July 8, when cases surged due to a gradual reopening of the economy.
