Isko vows ‘healing presidency’if elected

Republika

Among the presidential bids for next year’s national polls, Manila mayor Isko Moreno has promised to become a “healing president” for the country.
“I will be a healing president (for) national reconstruction and national reconciliation based on justice and rule of law,” he said.

After he unveiled his intention to run last Sept. 22, he said that he would create “the broadest form of government” ensuring that competence would be the basis of his government instead of connection. He would also embrace all political colors.

Moreno also vowed to hire millennials and include even his opponents.
“The best and brightest, from any city, party, faction, profession, tribe or age group,” Moreno said of his vision of government. “A leader should not only think outside the box–he must also choose people outside his circle.”
Moreno, who grew up in Tondo, was a scavenger-turned-actor and then, politician.

“While poverty dehumanizes, it must not take humanity out of you. Lumaki akong busabos ngunit hindi ako naging bastos,” Moreno said, taking a swipe at President Rodrigo Duterte’s known habit of swearing in public.
