MANILA Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet Isko Moreno said last Tuesday that he is open to any endorsement from President Rodrigo Duterte and other officials.
Moreno said in an interview after his dialogue with Angkas riders at Liwasang Bonifacio, he remains hopeful that more national and local officials will support his presidential bid.
“Umaasa ako ng lahat ng tulong kasi from the beginning, nagtapat ako na kailangan ko ng tulong kasi alam mo naman, solo na katawan ako sa mundo ng public service,” he said.
“So, kailangan ko ng mga allies, loyalists, believers, followers, and volunteers. So kung ako ang mapupusuan nila, salamat. Thank you in advance,” he added.
Last week Duterte’s closest aide Senator Christopher “Bong” Go announced that he will quit the 2022 presidential race.
Because of this move, political observers said Moreno is well-positioned to secure Duterte’s endorsement.
Moreno said he will not preempt any endorsement from Malacanang or from any other official.
“Ayaw ko pa rin pangunahan sila until they say so. For the meantime, I’m always hopeful,” he said. ANDI GARCIA
