IF he becomes president, Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer Isko Moreno Domagoso is willing to give a cabinet post to Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, whom he described as “an asset of the country.”
“Ayaw ko namang pangunahan yung resulta no? For example, si Senator Ping Lacson. Si Senator Ping Lacson is an asset of the country. That, I guarantee. Meron siyang particular set of skills na kapaki-pakinabang para sugpuin yung isang suliranin ng ating pamayanan. And I do believe, he is qualified to that. And I will cross the bridge when I get there kasi di ko naman alam kung papalarin ako. Baka naman siya ang palarin o yung iba ang palarin,” Moreno told reporters in Los Banos, Laguna on Wednesday.
Lacson, whose term as senator ends on June 30 this year, is running for president under the Reporma party. He has repeatedly said that should he lose in the 2022 presidential race, he will definitely retire from politics.
As chief of the Philippine National Police for 14 months, Lacson was able to clean-up the police force of ICUs – the inept, corrupt and undisciplined police officers. Leadership by example has been the hallmark of the Lacson and implemented a “no-take” policy from all illegal activities, particularly illegal gambling.
“Alam mo ang isa sa pinakamaganda talaga ay labanan ang mga kurapsyon. Sa dami ng poproblemahin ng pangulo ng bansa sa kabuhayan, kasi nag-commit na kami sa taumbayan na the first two years of six years, ang focus namin ni Doc Willie, buhay at kabuhayan. And I think with all the problems ng ating bansa, kailangan ko ng katulad nung qualities ni Senator Ping Lacson to address corruption and discipline in the government,” Moreno explained.
Pressed by reporters if he is thinking of appointing Lacson as “anti-corruption czar,” the Manila city mayor replied: “We will never know. I’ll cross the bridge when I get there. Ayokong pangunahan kasi hindi ko naman mahuhulaan yung resulta ng eleksyon.”
“But, as you have said, theoretically, that’s going to happen. May awa ang Diyos, kung palarin tayo sa tulong ng tao, I’ll do that. I’ll make an offer. But for the meantime, ayokong maliitin yung aking mga katungggali kasi lahat ng mga kandidatong pagka-presidente o kandidato for that matter, may chance manalo,” Moreno said. ANDI GARCIA
