Is the Bible the Word of God?

The SHEPHERD | Danilo Junco

There are millions if not billions of books have been published but not one could supersede the Bible or the Holy Scriptures as being the Word of God.
Jesus Christ, Son of God and God in the Second Person of the Godhead and became man to save humanity from eternal damnation in hell, cited many writings in the Old Testaments from Moses to the last book of Malachi validating that the Bible is the Word of God.

He backs up His claims that He is God and the Son of God through His resurrection from the dead in addition to all His prophecies about the last days which have been fulfilled while others are still yet to be fulfilled.
When He was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, Jesus quoted the verses in Deuteronomy to defeat Satan’s lies (Matthew 4:4-11).

One instance when He was in the synagogue, He read the writings of Isaiah about Himself saying, ““The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Jesus also said that heaven and earth will pass away but not an iota or tittle of the Bible will pass away as it is already settled in Heaven, in other words, the Bible is eternal (Matthew 5:18; Psalm 119:89).

When Jesus was questioned by the religious leaders of Israel for claiming that He is God and the Son of God, He told them that even humans can claim as “god” and further said “the Scriptures cannot be broken” (John 10:35). What the Bible says about Himself is trustworthy and cannot be removed.

The Bible is composed of the words of God that He has spoken, the Scriptures is referring to the writings of the prophets and apostles comprising the 39 books in the Old Testament and the 27 books in the New Testament and Jesus Christ who is the personal Word of God (Genesis 1; Psalm 29:1-11; John 1:1, 14; Revelation 19:13; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

Aside from Jesus’ declarations, along with the prophets, men of God and the apostles as there are more than 40 writers who wrote the Bible based on the inspiration of the Holy Spirit who is the author, the Bible has so many predictions on Israel, on Jesus first coming on earth including His birth, ministry, death, resurrection and ascension together with the Gentile nations and empires which dealt with Israel harshly, God removed them from powers and never to rise again also were fulfilled.

No promises of God to His people Israel that have never been fulfilled but all were accomplished.

With regard to Biblical prophecies only few are still to be fulfilled and we have to be alert as we are living in exciting time as our Lord Jesus is coming again to end the evil age which is spearheaded by Satan to the sons of disobedience (Ephesians 2:1-3; 2 Corinthians 4:4; I John 5:19).

The advice of Prophet Isaiah that we should tremble before His Words for what God says are true and will come to pass.

Never doubt that the Bible is the Word of God as in the final judgment, this is the one which judges all people of the world.
