The Philippine military may have averted a major catastrophe with the capture of a pregnant Indonesian woman allegedly planning a suicide bomb attack in Mindanao.
This comes less than two months after two female suicide bombers, supposedly allied with the Abu Sayyaf group, blew themselves up in Jolo, killing 15 persons and wounding 74 others.
The Indonesian woman was identified by the Joint Task Force Sulu as 17-year old Rezky Fantasya Rullie, widow of another Indonesian terrorist named Andi Baso who was killed in Sulu in August.
Arrested together with Rullie were Inda Nurhaina, wife of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Ben Tatoo, and Fatima Sandra Jimlasni, wife of Abu Sayyaf member Jahid Jam.
Suicide attacks were almost non-existent in the Philippines, but since July 2018 there have been at least 5 such incidents.
