ORMOC CITY — Mayor Richard Gomez and his wife Lucy Torres-Gomez, Leyte Fourth District Representative, plan to swap their government positions in the May 2022 polls.
Mayor Gomez made the announcement during the launch of the Ormoc City Covid19 Vaccination Plan and Deployment at the Ormoc City Astrodome.
“We worked hard to make Ormoc a better place to live in. And we want Ormoc to stay that way for a long, long time,” the mayor said.
Mayor Gomez was first elected as Ormoc City mayor in 2016 by a landslide victory, and was re-elected in 2019.
His wife is currently on her third and last term as the congressional representative of Leyte’s fourth district.
The actor turned politician took pride in his accomplishments in Ormoc City as concurrent mayor for his second term.
“Look at where Ormoc is as compared to from years back. We became the safest city, we became the richest city, we are the city of beautiful people,” Gomez said.
Mayor Gomez pleaded with the citizens of Ormoc to support Lucy when she runs for mayor of the city in the May elections and for the people living in the fourth district to support him as their congressional representative.
