LUCENA CITY – Four persons were killed while three others were injured when a speeding ambulance collided last week with a 10-wheeler delivery truck along the Quirino national highway in Tagkawayan, Quezon south of Manila.
Police said the fatalities, who were aboard the ambulance, all came from Gubat, Sorsogon. They were identified as Melchor Escandor, Silvestre Camposano, Jocelyn Espadero and Aljon Gime. Injured were Nigel Gime, Lanie Escandor and Rose Anne Pineda.
The ambulance was reportedly heading to Manila when the truck, driven by Gerardo Bandales, cut into its lane. This forced it to veer away, but in doing so it slammed into a van which was parked by the roadside.
