CABANATUAN CITY— The saying “blood is thicker than water” vividly applied to a recent incident wherein a father reportedly grabbed his police son-in-law’s service weapon and shot him dead on Saturday, May 22.
Cpl. Marlon de Guzman did not survive the bullet wounds he received from his father-in-law, and died shortly after being shot. The incident occurred at De Guzman and his wife’s home along Batisan St., Bgy. Aduas Norte, around 12:30 a.m. Police arrested the suspect Alberto Manigao, 65, and locked him in jail while waiting for his case’s disposition.
According to investigators, the couple was engaged in a heated argument that escalated to Marlon slapping Jean’s face and pointing a gun at her.
At that point, Jean’s father Alberto, who was present at the scene, immediately grabbed the gun and shot Marlon dead.
Jean also sustained a bullet wound to the right arm and has been treated at the hospital. Marlon De Guzman was assigned to the Aliaga Police Station, according to police.
