Maguindanao – The former police chief of Jolo, Sulu – who had ran into trouble for the killing of 4 intel officers of the Philippine Army in June – was gunned down last week in the town of Sultan Mastura.
P/Lt. Col. Walter Annayo, reports said, was fatally shot along Narciso Ramos Highway by unidentified men on board a Toyota SUV when he had stepped out of his car to buy something to drink.
Annayo was relieved of his post by former PNP chief Archie Gamboa after the four Army operatives were ambushed in broad daylight in the Jolo public market by nine of his men.
Annayo, who wasn’t around during the incident, was facing administrative charges for negligence and command responsibility.
