Ex-President Joseph Estrada, 83, was reported to have tested positive for coronavirus.
Estrada was rushed by relatives to the hospital after experiencing some fits of coughing, difficulty in breathing and sluggish movement.
Fortunately, his condition had reportedly stabilized after being given oxygen and he is now recuperating in his room.
Several members of the Estrada household were obliged to self-quarantine because they had come in close contact with the former chief executive.
Mr. Estrada was elected president in 1998, and deposed during Edsa 2 in 2001. After a brief hiatus from politics, he ran and won as Manila mayor in 2013. He tried for a third term in 2019, but was soundly defeated by Isko Moreno.
