Authorities are looking into the alleged violation of Covid19 health protocols during a recent gathering of the religious group El Shaddai in Paranaque City.
Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano, vice chairman of the government’s Covid19 task force, said the El Shaddai event took place at their compound wherein hundreds of devotees were clearly seen in video, livestreamed on Delta Broadcasting System’s YouTube page, mingling and interacting with each other without observing social distancing.
Ano said this isn’t the first time the group conducted such an event, without the approval of Paranaque officials.
He said the office of Paranaque Mayor Edwin Olivares and the Philippine National Police are currently investigating the alleged protocol transgressions.
Mayor Olivares said he has asked the El Shaddai to explain why they shouldn’t be cited for the infringement of Covid protocols.
El Shaddai officials denied violating health protocol, saying it was just an optical illusion that the people looked like they were close to each other “because of the aerial angle of the video of the event.”
