A recent, non-commissioned survey from the Social Weather Station (SWS) revealed that the satisfaction of Filipinos with President Rodrigo Duterte’s leadership has gone down by 10 points, reaching a score of +52.

From September 12 to 16 a total of 1,200 respondents throughout the country were interviewed regarding their satisfaction with the administration, for the third quarter of 2021.

In summary, the survey found that 67% of Filipinos were satisfied, 15% were dissatisfied, while 11% were undecided.

Although this yielded a decline in overall rating, the lowest score since June of 2018, following the scoring system of the SWS, a +52 (% of those satisfied minus the % of those dissatisfied) is classified as “very good”.

“Compared to June 2021, gross satisfaction with President Duterte fell by eight points from 75 percent, gross undecided fell by one point from 12 percent, and gross dissatisfaction rose by two points from 13 percent,” SWS explained in a statement.

SWS also said that Mindanao was the only area in which there was no significant decrease in satisfaction, whereas all other parts of the country expressed a level of dissatisfaction, resulting in a lower score.

Meanwhile, results from another non-commissioned survey from the SWS indicated that many Filipinos feel a decline in the overall quality of life over the past year.

The survey, conducted from September 12 to 16 among 1,200 respondents nationwide for the third quarter of 2021, showed that 57% (the losers) felt that their quality of life had declined, 13% (the gainers) believed things improved, while 29% (the unchanged) saw no difference.

This resulted in a net gainer score (calculated by subtracting the number of the gainers from that of the losers) of -44, which is categorized by the SWS scoring system as “extremely low”.

SWS noted further that the satisfaction rating of the Duterte regime is lower amongst those that experienced a decline in the quality of life.
